About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the NICU at SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital provides direct nursing care to patients in accordance with established policies and protocols. This role emphasizes the importance of patient advocacy, effective communication, and collaboration with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality care tailored to individual patient needs. The RN will utilize their nursing skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, while also fostering a supportive work environment for colleagues and students.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice to enhance patient care and quality of life.
  • Establishes effective relationships with patients and families to facilitate care plan development.
  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Develops management strategies considering various dimensions of human responses to health problems.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the impact of illness on patients' overall status.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with healthcare teams to assess needs and set goals for patient care.
  • Educates patients and families on health promotion and comfort measures.
  • Mentors and serves as a role model for nursing colleagues and students.
  • Applies evidence-based practices in nursing care delivery.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) License in the state of work location.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association.
  • No prior experience required, suitable for mid-level candidates.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in medical-surgical nursing or NICU preferred.
  • Leadership skills and ability to mentor others.
