The Johnson County Mental Health Justice Team is looking for qualified applicants to fill the position of a Mental Health Registered Nurse (RN) to work 2 shifts/week and on an On-Call basis. The Mental Health Nurse provides direct psychiatric services to inmates in a correctional setting. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing services, assessing the holistic needs of individuals by incorporating family and environmental factors, collecting and documenting patient health history, measuring and recording vital signs, administering injections, completing health assessments, and performing limited exams. Additionally, the nurse will obtain, process, and handle lab specimens, manage medication administration programs, and perform minor procedures and treatments within their designated area of specialty. The Mental Health Nurse will also be responsible for completing and submitting documentation regarding client care and condition, reviewing the quality and effectiveness of services provided and documented by other service providers, and providing clients and families with supportive resources. Educating patients in areas impacting health, wellness, and daily living activities is also a key responsibility, along with developing and providing specialized health training and education to staff. Furthermore, the nurse will provide case management, care coordination, referral, and follow-up to individuals and/or families, evaluating outcomes and effectiveness of plans, and making changes as necessary.
