The Registered Nurse (RN) - Operations Coordinator position at Ochsner Health is a pivotal role that combines clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities. This position is designed for a registered nurse who will act as a supervisor and provider of care at the point of care to individuals and cohorts of patients within a unit. The RN will evaluate nursing interventions by coordinating, delegating, and supervising care provided by the healthcare team, which includes licensed nurses, registered nurses, and patient care technicians. The role requires the RN to serve as a resource for staff regarding patient care assessment, planning, and evaluation of nursing interventions, facilitating problem resolution through collaboration with unit leadership and other supervisory staff. In this role, the RN will work closely with the immediate leader and other supervisory staff to identify staff strengths and weaknesses, as well as evaluate staff performance for team members within their span of control. The RN will be responsible for administering medications, starting IVs, and discharging patients in collaboration with their healthcare team. They will also organize, plan, supervise, and provide coordinated patient care within the unit, ensuring that all nursing protocols and clinical practice guidelines are adhered to in support of evidence-based practice. The RN will manage conflict on assigned shifts and collaborate with other supervisors and unit leadership if further action is needed. Additionally, they will support daily clinical operations by ensuring effective scheduling, staffing, and the availability of appropriate clinical supplies and resources for patient care. The RN must adapt their behavior to the specific patient population, respecting privacy and effectively communicating with patients and their families. This position requires a commitment to ongoing education and compliance with current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory agency requirements.
