About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) for the Stroke Code Team at MemorialCare Health System is responsible for providing safe and effective patient care in a critical care environment. This full-time position involves working night shifts and requires a strong background in critical care or ICU settings. The RN will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, ensuring adherence to established standards and protocols. The role emphasizes collaboration, communication, and contributions to unit and hospital performance, all while fostering a supportive and innovative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe and cost-effective patient care according to established standards.
  • Assess patients and develop a written plan of care using assessment data.
  • Implement patient care and evaluate/revise care as necessary.
  • Engage in staff development and collaboration with team members.
  • Maintain interpersonal relationships and effective communication with patients and staff.
  • Contribute to unit, department, and hospital performance.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of Critical Care or Acute Care hospital experience, preferably in ICU or Long Term Facility.
  • Completion of pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.
  • Completion of pre-employment health evaluation including TB screening.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in California.
  • BSN required unless waived by nurse executive council review.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Completion of unit orientation and clinical competency validation.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CPR & AED) & ACLS certification required.
  • Current NIHSS Certificate required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional certifications required within 6 months of hire or transfer into the department.
