About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care in a children's residential setting in the Bronx. The RN will supervise LPNs and Direct Support Professionals, ensuring adherence to nursing standards and regulations while delivering direct patient care and health education. This role requires effective communication and collaboration with diverse populations and the ability to manage nursing tasks and documentation accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care as prescribed by the physician/Nurse Practitioner.
  • Perform nursing assessments through direct physical examination.
  • Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans, updating them as necessary.
  • Coordinate acute and ongoing health services as indicated by need and regulatory mandates.
  • Monitor health and behavioral status, labs, and efficacy of prescribed treatments.
  • Ensure timely communication of findings to appropriate clinical personnel.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and outcome-based medical record documentation.
  • Provide health education to clients and their support systems.
  • Train staff in nursing tasks, medication administration, and infection control.
  • Interview and determine candidacy of RN and LPN applicants in conjunction with the Director of Nursing.
  • Supervise, discipline, and schedule LPN staff hours.
  • Maintain documentation of training curriculums and attendance.
  • Participate actively in the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).
  • Be available for on-call duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • Managerial experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Sound independent judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in supervising nursing staff.
  • Knowledge of electronic health record management.
