Responsibilities

  • Reviews patient medical records for completeness and updates as necessary prior to patient visits.
  • Interviews patients and measures vital signs, recording information on patients' charts.
  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients and positions instruments and equipment.
  • Hands instruments and materials to the doctor as directed.
  • Provides case management oversight to identified patients as assigned by physicians.
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments and inventories medical supplies.
  • Assists in preparing patients and operates equipment for routine diagnostic tests.
  • Gives injections, vaccinations, and performs routine laboratory tests.
  • Maintains, tracks, and records information regarding lab tests and pharmacy items.
  • Assists in quality improvement activities including chart reviews and payer requirements.
  • Attends and participates in approved/requested committees and meetings.
  • Maintains current clinical knowledge and skills through in-services and workshops.
  • Participates in maintaining an organized and clean department and safe work environment.
  • Handles triage calls in coordination with providers and documents encounters for provider signature.
  • Responds to medical telephone inquiries and documents requests.
  • Serves as contact nurse for hospital and outside issues, including documentation of provider instructions.
  • Assists in indigent programs and resources for patients in need of assistance.
  • Performs scheduling and follow-up of additional testing and consultations.
  • Provides guidance to medical assistants, LPNs, and administrative personnel as needed.

Requirements

  • Completion of nursing training from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current state registered nurse license.
  • Minimum one year of professional nursing experience, with clinic experience preferred.
  • Current CPR certification and health records with appropriate immunizations.

Nice-to-haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Labor & Delivery experience a plus.
