About the position

The Registered Pharmacy Technician at Roper Hospital plays a crucial role in assisting pharmacists with medication preparation and dispensing for both inpatient and outpatient services. This position requires adherence to state regulations and involves various responsibilities, including processing prescriptions, managing inventory, and ensuring patient safety. The role is part-time and involves rotating shifts, providing flexibility in scheduling while contributing to patient care in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in preparation of medications for patients in inpatient and outpatient service areas.
• Accept new written, faxed, or electronic prescription orders from prescribers.
• Enter and retrieve information from electronic health records or prescription processing systems.
• Ensure accurate charge and credit functions related to medication orders for patient billing.
• Prepare and affix labels, stock prescription drugs, and retrieve drugs from inventory locations.
• Count and pour drugs into containers prior to dispensing by a pharmacist.
• Perform non-sterile drug compounding as per guidelines.
• Operate technology used for drug dispensing, including robotics.
• Assist in the education and precepting of new pharmacy technicians and pharmacy students.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Requirements

• Registered Pharmacy Technician License
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid state driver's license
• Experience in Retail, Ambulatory, Outpatient, Hospital, Acute Care, or Home Infusion pharmacy (preferred)
• Communication skills
• Mechanical knowledge

Nice-to-haves

• Pharmacy Technician Certification
• Experience with IV infusion
• Knowledge of geriatrics
