As a Registrar for the Southside Physicians Network ENT & Allergy, you will be responsible for ensuring that all patients are greeted and processed appropriately and routed to the appropriate testing area. This role involves accurate registration and pre-registration of all patients, which includes conducting professional patient interviews, accurate insurance and computer coding, and appropriate documentation of the events surrounding the interview. You will ensure that all necessary paperwork is disseminated to the patient or appropriate locations and oversee and prioritize bed placement needs to ensure prompt and appropriate placement of patients. This position requires strong communication skills, the ability to work under stress, and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and process all patients appropriately and route them to the correct testing area.
  • Conduct accurate registration and pre-registration of all patients, including professional patient interviews.
  • Perform insurance verification and coding accurately, ensuring proper documentation of the interview events.
  • Disseminate necessary paperwork to patients or appropriate locations.
  • Oversee and prioritize bed placement needs to ensure prompt and appropriate patient placement.
  • Maintain patient flow and inform the Supervisor of any department and patient issues immediately.
  • Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledge of insurance verification/pre-certification and benefits, with preferred experience of 6 months to 1 year in patient registration/health care.
  • Ability to perform in multiple computer applications.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and experience in ICD-9 coding is preferred.
  • Proficient keyboard skills with an average speed of 40 wpm.
  • Outstanding customer service skills, with at least one year of customer service experience.
  • Ability to work under considerable stress using tact and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, problem-solve, and resolve conflict.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • One to two years of acute care experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in the healthcare field or a related area is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Cadence, and Connect care preferred but not required.
