About the position

The Registry Intake Specialist position within the Illinois Department of Public Health focuses on performing complex technical functions related to the Medical Cannabis Program. The role involves determining the eligibility of medical cannabis registry applications, processing applications, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The specialist will also communicate with patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers, providing feedback on systems and procedures, and tracking issues within the patient registry system.

Responsibilities

  • Determine eligibility of medical cannabis registry applications.
  • Complete final processing of applications including approval and registry card printing.
  • Correspond with patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers to ensure compliance with the Illinois Administrative Rules and statutes.
  • Provide feedback on systems and procedures used in medical cannabis card processing.
  • Keep track of deficiencies and issues in the medical cannabis patient registry system.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of the Illinois Administrative Rules and statutes related to the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Act.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to perform complex technical functions and maintain attention to detail.
  • Experience in customer service or public health programs.
