About the position

The Regulated Infrastructure Development/Renewables Manager is responsible for managing the acquisition and development of generation and storage components of the Integrated Resource Plan within the Grid Solutions organization. This role involves overseeing processes and team members to enhance company value through the implementation of strategic asset solutions utilizing renewables, storage, natural gas, and emerging technologies. The manager will drive the execution of AEP's regulated generation transformation plan and support the development and execution of operating company strategies and asset investment opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage resources necessary to identify and pursue generation asset investment opportunities including analysis, due diligence, and negotiation of asset and power purchase agreements.
  • Lead or support complex high-value contract negotiations associated with adding new generation resources.
  • Manage the RFP process, including development of RFP content, managing the Q&A process, and processing proposals.
  • Support the OPCO regulatory approval process for related generation transactions, providing testimony and participating in hearings as required.
  • Facilitate communication and issue resolution between corporate departments, external parties, and project operations managers.
  • Participate in the development of the regulated operating company's Integrated Resource Plans (IRP).
  • Promote a cooperative working environment with an emphasis on safety and innovation.
  • Consult and provide input to key stakeholders regarding due diligence, analysis, and regulatory matters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or a relevant field; graduate degree is a plus.
  • Seven years of experience with an electric utility or energy marketing firm, with at least two years in a commercial role.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational, time management, and accounting skills.
  • Proficient in discounted cash flow modeling and risk impact articulation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively.
  • Ability to work professionally with customers, contractors, and development partners.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
