About the position

The Accounting & Reporting Manager position is a critical role within a mid-size public financial services company, focusing on regulatory reporting and accounting activities within a global division. This position will work closely with two experienced senior leaders who oversee the overall accounting and reporting functions, providing essential support for audit processes. The role involves collaboration with global accounting functions and the consolidation of financials across various currencies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal controls. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing month-end close reports and regulatory filings, ensuring adherence to SEC and GAAP rules. This includes maintaining the integrity of financial data, participating in the month-end financial close process, and preparing balance sheet reconciliations and income statement analyses. Additionally, the role requires the preparation of Customer Reserve computations in compliance with various regulatory and SEC filings, as well as filings for domestic and international regulators. The Accounting & Reporting Manager will also support annual audits and quarterly reviews with both internal and external auditors, as well as handle inquiries from regulatory agencies such as SEC and FINRA. The position emphasizes the importance of recommending and implementing process improvements to enhance departmental productivity and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare month-end close reports and regulatory filings, ensuring compliance with SEC and GAAP rules.
  • Assist in ensuring the integrity of financial data and compliance with GAAP, maintaining proper internal controls over regulatory and financial reporting.
  • Participate in the month-end financial close process, including preparing month-end balance sheet reconciliations and income statement analysis.
  • Prepare the Customer Reserve computation in compliance with various regulatory and SEC filings.
  • Prepare filings for other domestic and international regulators.
  • Support the annual audit and quarterly review with internal and external auditors, SEC and FINRA exams, and inquiries from other regulatory agencies.
  • Recommend and assist in implementing process improvements to continually improve departmental productivity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 5 to 7+ years of accounting or public accounting experience.
  • Working knowledge of SEC, US GAAP, PCAOB, and AICPA standards.
  • Ability to work and excel in an innovative, fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative team-player with the ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Excellent analytical and oral/written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
