About the position

The Regulatory Case Manager is responsible for the overall development and management of filings to state and federal regulatory agencies, which are crucial for meeting corporate earnings objectives. This role involves significant input into corporate regulatory strategy development and coordination, as well as educating others on the interrelationships between cost drivers and revenue. The position serves as the highest level of staff resource for the company in the regulatory area.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, filing, and management of major filings with state regulatory commissions in coordination with operating companies.
  • Assume primary responsibility for the development of major filings with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
  • Coordinate the overall process for filings, ensuring accuracy and completeness of required schedules, and identification of witnesses and development of testimony.
  • Provide input into decision-making processes on key strategic issues shaping the company's regulatory initiatives.
  • Develop teams and networks across the company to gather necessary information for regulatory strategies.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends and policies within commissions that affect the company's operations.
  • Identify and develop witnesses, both from within AEP and outside experts, for regulatory filings.
  • Develop strategic alternatives and analyses, making recommendations for resolution of regulatory issues.
  • Support SWEPCO in maintaining appropriate business relationships with state commissions by providing data, analysis, and recommendations as necessary.
  • Manage regulatory support employees and provide functional supervision over designated subordinates on specific project assignments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in utility accounting, rates, tariff development, commercial operations, management, or other relevant experience.
  • Previous leadership experience is preferred.
  • Electric utility experience is preferred.
