About the position

This position at FirstEnergy Service Company is responsible for maintaining the company's financial records in compliance with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's Uniform System of Accounts. The role is situated within the Regulatory Accounting & Reporting department, focusing on FERC reporting and accounting. The position is remote and reports to the Director of Regulatory Accounting & Reporting, requiring collaboration with various stakeholders and adherence to regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the SAP processing of FERC accounting derivation and trial balance creation.
  • Lead the preparation of all quarterly and annual FERC reporting, including filing documents through the Workiva system.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements for each state and federal jurisdiction.
  • Conduct FERC accounting and reporting research on industry comparisons and new company transactions, making recommendations.
  • Support state/federal regulatory strategies, including rate case filings and data requests.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders, primarily Rates and Legal, and auditors.
  • Coordinate tests and reviews associated with audits and analyze results to implement corrective actions.
  • Recommend and implement solutions to improve work processes and promote efficient operations.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for the FERC Uniform System of Accounting, providing guidance across the organization.
  • Demonstrate influence, collaboration, and ownership in solving complex challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience required.
  • Experience with financial acumen, understanding of SAP and FERC uniform system of accounts, reporting, and research.
  • Proficiency with SAP and FERC accounting required.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word).
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and lead projects.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey technical issues clearly.
  • Desire to learn, grow, and deliver quality results within established deadlines.
  • Superior analytic abilities.
