About the position

The Rehab Liaison at UAB Medicine plays a crucial role in facilitating patient admissions to the Spain Rehabilitation Center. This position involves responding to referrals, conducting pre-admission screenings, and collaborating with case managers to ensure compliance with CMS regulations. The liaison also educates patients and their families about admission criteria and their responsibilities, while supporting marketing efforts for the rehabilitation services.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to referrals made to the Spain Rehabilitation Center to promote patient and referral source satisfaction.
  • Complete the Pre-Admission Screen (PAS) and collaborate with Pre-Admission Case Managers and the Rehab Admissions team.
  • Assist with the final decision to admit patients based on CMS regulations.
  • Educate patients and their families regarding admission criteria, their diagnosis, and responsibilities for family education and training.
  • Assist with marketing efforts for the rehabilitation services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or an Allied Health field.
  • Five years of related experience, with three years in a rehabilitation environment.
  • Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or as a Speech-Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Alabama.
  • Currently certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
