About the position
The Detroit Tigers are looking for a full-time Rehab Strength and Conditioning Coach to implement their Strength and Conditioning Program Principles for athletes in the Rehab/Return to Play Program. This role is primarily based in Lakeland, Florida, and requires relocation to the area. The coach will collaborate with various staff members to design and manage training programs for injured athletes, ensuring a comprehensive approach to player development.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Minor League Medical Staff and other departments to design and implement Return to Play programs for injured athletes.
- Manage daily Strength and Conditioning programming for the Return to Play group, including warm-ups, conditioning, and strength training sessions.
- Assist with Strength and Conditioning Operations at the Tigers Player Development Complex.
- Work with the Sport Performance Team to assess and improve player mobility, stability, strength, power output, and conditioning levels.
- Collaborate with the Performance Science Department to utilize technologies for monitoring performance and workload metrics.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field.
- CSCS Certified and RCSS Credential through NSCA.
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certified.
- Minimum of Two years of full-time experience in Strength and Conditioning, preferably in Professional Baseball.
- Basic knowledge of performance nutrition.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, along with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Masters Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field.
- 5 Years of experience with college or professional baseball players.
- Experience with Sport Science Technology including Catapult, ForceDecks, Gymaware, etc.
- Bilingual (Spanish).
