About the position
The Rehab Technician at Ochsner Health provides therapeutic modality treatments under the supervision of licensed therapists. This role involves preparing therapy areas, transporting patients, and maintaining equipment to ensure a safe and clean environment. The technician plays a crucial role in patient care and must adhere to infection control policies while assisting with various tasks as directed by therapists.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and maintains work area for treatment, including ordering supplies and linens.
- Monitors and assists in patient care as instructed by the therapist.
- Assists with office and front desk procedures.
- Transports patients to and from departments using wheelchairs or stretchers safely.
- Adapts behavior to respect patient privacy and communication needs.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in Healthcare Sciences preferred.
- Five years of relevant experience, or enrollment in a PT/OT or PTA/COTA program may substitute for experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
- Proficient computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
