About the position

The Rehabilitation Technician role at Water's Edge at Port Jefferson for Rehabilitation & Nursing involves working closely with rehabilitation patients in an inpatient subacute facility. The position is designed for individuals who are enthusiastic about patient care and are interested in pursuing careers in physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech-language pathology. Technicians will receive training and will be part of a team that fosters a supportive and therapeutic environment for patients.

Responsibilities

• Patient/Resident transportation to and from rehabilitation area
• Therapy set-up and breakdown
• Assisting therapists in providing a therapeutic and safe environment
• Maintaining equipment and working area
• Working as a team in setting up and preparing for group activities/therapy
• Fostering a positive and encouraging working environment for staff and patients/residents
• Performing clerical duties, filing, computer work, etc.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Strong verbal, written communication and organizational skills

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge in body mechanics during patient treatment
• Experience in rehabilitation settings
