About the position
The Behavioral Therapy Specialist (BTS) at the Harold Jordan Center provides essential support and training to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role focuses on implementing individualized support plans, ensuring the health and safety of residents, and promoting their social and emotional well-being through habilitation training and therapy.
Responsibilities
- Follow the individual support plan to meet the needs and active treatment requirements of individuals served.
- Communicate with families, conservators, employers, and the public to share information and meet active treatment needs.
- Analyze medical treatment and training data to identify changes in needs, behavior, and abilities.
- Assess environmental data to ensure a safe and appropriate environment for individuals served.
- Promote teamwork and collaboration among staff.
- Train other staff on active treatment interventions aligned with individual support plans.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year of experience working with people with disabilities
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in teaching or behavioral health
