About the position

The Medicare Cost Report & Reimbursement Manager will act as the day-to-day leader of our clients Government Reimbursement Function. The manager will drive the completion of Medicare Cost Reports and other similar government financial filings, as well as support subsequent audits and act as a subject matter expert (SME) on government reimbursement policy and reporting. Additionally, the manager will be the point person for communication with Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs), Georgia Medicaid / Department of Community Health (DCH), and other government entities and related contractors on matters related to our financial filings, audits, and other reimbursement topics. As the function leader, the manager will enjoy a high degree of autonomy in managing the function and will contribute to strategic decisions about personnel, vendors, and the overall direction of the function. The successful candidate will have the experience and ability to serve has the leader of the Reimbursement function and train, coordinate, and lead the Reimbursement team members. The candidate should also be able to work as an individual contributor to successfully complete filings and audits in the necessary timeframe with minimal oversight. This position will require leadership skills and will also require maintaining a high degree of knowledge on Medicare Cost Report instructions, data inputs, and changes to Medicare and Medicaid regulations related to Reimbursement. Additionally, this position will require familiarity with hospital finance and accounting principles, such as charity and bad debt write-offs.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the completion of Medicare Cost Reports and other government financial filings.
  • Support subsequent audits related to government reimbursement.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on government reimbursement policy and reporting.
  • Communicate with Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) and Georgia Medicaid / Department of Community Health (DCH).
  • Manage the Reimbursement function with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Contribute to strategic decisions about personnel, vendors, and the overall direction of the function.
  • Train, coordinate, and lead the Reimbursement team members.
  • Complete filings and audits in a timely manner with minimal oversight.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field OR a minimum of eight (8) years relevant experience.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years relevant experience in the healthcare industry with at least three (3) years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in Medicare Cost Report preparation and review.
  • Knowledge and understanding of government payor reimbursement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Intermediate skill level with Excel.
  • Experience managing analysts and fostering a productive work environment.
