About the position

The Reimbursement Specialist at Glens Falls Hospital is responsible for coordinating Health Information Management (HIM), Patient Financial Services (PFS), and Statewide Planning and Research Cooperative System (SPARCS) applications and submissions. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of claims processing and documentation, contributing to the hospital's mission of providing exceptional, affordable, and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Monitors, reviews and clears abstract claims held up due to claims edits, coding denials, and other system delays; provides a weekly analysis.
• Works with HIM leadership and other departments to implement recommendations and solutions for improved workflow.
• Evaluates the quality of clinical documentation in collaboration with HIM leadership and Coding teams, identifying incompleteness or inconsistencies.

Requirements

• Minimum of an Associate's degree in healthcare finance/revenue cycle, health information management, or related field.
• At least 10 years of combined Patient Financial Services and Health Information Management experience with a focus on Coding processes, Scrubber functionality, and SPARCS submissions.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• CCS, CPC, COP certifications preferred but not required; candidates without certification will be encouraged to secure certification.
• Experience with Encoder products, clinical care systems, billing systems, and state of New York data submission programs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and screen sharing software.
