About the position

The Relationship Manager for Business Cards & Payments at Capital One is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with small and mid-sized businesses in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area. This role focuses on understanding customer needs and providing tailored payment solutions to enhance their financial management and profitability. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit, capable of driving new business opportunities and delivering exceptional service to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and build new business opportunities in the assigned territory.
  • Use consultative selling techniques to teach prospective customers about payment solutions.
  • Analyze the total business spend of small and mid-sized businesses to identify opportunities.
  • Assist businesses in incorporating Capital One products into their purchasing platforms.
  • Maintain and update CRM systems regarding sales calls and pipelines.
  • Acquire new customers through cold call prospecting.
  • Initiate and participate in educational and networking events.
  • Establish relationships with local business communities and Centers of Influence.
  • Drive incremental charge volume on the card with new clients.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of sales experience.
  • Proven experience in hunting for net new business in a field sales role.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, telephone, and PC skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5 years of outside customer sales experience as an individual contributor.
  • 1 year of experience working with small and mid-sized business customers.
  • 1 year of experience in the financial industry.
  • Proficiency using Salesforce.com.
  • Proficiency using Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail).
