Responsibilities

  • Participate in required training classes and assist employees of the same or higher classification.
  • Assist with inspection, testing, checking, calibrating, and repairing instruments, relays, and control equipment under supervision.
  • Safeguard all personnel and equipment in the work area at all times.
  • Maintain good housekeeping during and upon completion of all assigned tasks.
  • Complete accurate records, reports, and time-reporting documents.
  • Install, test, maintain, repair, and operate electrical equipment in substations and power plants.
  • Perform routine inspections of equipment and control buildings.
  • Locate, diagnose, and correct electrical troubles in circuits and equipment.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities using various test equipment.
  • Test, calibrate, troubleshoot, and adjust various types of induction relays and associated equipment.
  • Perform switching operations necessary for the job of a Relay Tester A.
  • Report any abnormal or unusual conditions found during troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Must have an Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated significant electrical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work with small, delicate, and complex equipment.
  • Ability to analyze electrical control and protection problems accurately.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio Driver's License.
