About the position

The Release Manager at General Dynamics Information Technology is responsible for overseeing the release management processes that protect the IT infrastructure and its associated services. This role involves controlling deployments to the production environment while minimizing disruptions to operations. The Release Manager will work closely with stakeholders to ensure client satisfaction and maintain the integrity and availability of production systems during software and hardware deployments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight for release management processes and procedures, establishing working groups for release processes and improvements.
  • Complete reviews of test plans for Governance, Risk, and Compliance related activities.
  • Attend IT CAB, technical reviews, CCBs, and project meetings as applicable.
  • Coordinate with technical SMEs responsible for testing to determine the type of release and ensure minimal impact on current services.
  • Define the release scope, criteria, resources, and stakeholders needed for rollout and establish a plan of action for scheduled delays.
  • Ensure Hardware/Software Package and Release Plan Checklists are completed and changes are documented to identify the type of release.
  • Assist with pilot deployments as applicable.
  • Calculate release metrics, create reports, identify trends, and communicate results.
  • Communicate rollout and rollback plans and create AARs in conjunction with deployment for failed releases.
  • Establish release process training plans with the training department.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of related experience in release management, configuration management, and change management.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technology or business-related field.
  • Secret Clearance at a minimum, with TS/SCI preferred.
  • Proven ability in documentation and report writing.
  • Experience with ServiceNow and BMC Remedy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a process-driven organization for 3-5 years.
  • Management and facilitation skills for meetings.
  • Experience in IT Asset Management.
