About the position

The Release Train Engineer (RTE) at Navy Federal Credit Union is responsible for coordinating and facilitating Agile Release Train events, ensuring alignment with the Release Train value stream. The RTE acts as an escalation point for impediments faced by development teams, collaborates with program teams to manage risks and issues, and fosters a Lean/Agile mindset across the organization. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills to empower teams and promote Agile practices within Navy Federal.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously ensures planned work aligns to the Release Train value stream
  • Enable teams to remove impediments and act as escalation point for unresolved issues
  • Own escalated impediments and raise issues to leadership if necessary
  • Work with teams to deliver PI Objectives
  • Manage Agile Release Train Risks, Assumptions, Issues and Dependencies (RAID)
  • Manage dependencies between Development Teams within and across Programs
  • Identify and address staffing and tool needs
  • Coach teams to define capacity for PI Planning
  • Develop and own the program release communication plan
  • Gather and report performance information and metrics
  • Update and communicate Release Plans
  • Collaborate with Product Management and Systems Architects
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders
  • Support Communities of Practice as needed
  • Promote Agility across Navy Federal
  • Assist with training and workshops as requested
  • Help resolve team conflicts when needed

Requirements

  • Significant experience in agile transformation and coaching teams
  • Experience with tools like Jira, Rally, Azure DevOps
  • Experience in creating reporting metrics and dashboards
  • Experience in leading successful delivery teams
  • Experience in software development
  • Experience as a Scrum Master or Delivery Lead
  • Successful track record implementing Agile methodologies
  • Experience working with all levels of staff and stakeholders
  • Ability to coach and mentor scrum masters
  • Ability to create release plans and roadmaps
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • SAFe RTE, Leading SAFE or SAFe Advanced Scrum Master certifications
  • Advanced skills in influencing and motivating team members
  • Advanced problem solving and collaboration skills
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience leading Agile teams as a Scrum Master, Product Owner, or Release Train Engineer
  • Experience in organizations undergoing Agile transformation
  • Advanced knowledge of Navy Federal functions and operations
  • PMP, SAFe Program Consultant Certification or other advanced Agile Certification
  • Prior experience with technical program management and hybrid Agile/waterfall environments
