About the position

The Release Train Engineer (RTE) serves as a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART), guiding and facilitating teams to deliver value while driving continuous improvement. The RTE plays a crucial role in scaling Lean-Agile practices, managing risks, and ensuring alignment with organizational strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Agile Release Train processes and execution, escalating impediments and managing risks.
  • Create a participative, empowered, and safe environment for feedback.
  • Ensure alignment with organization strategies by focusing on critical priorities and measuring progress.
  • Identify and emphasize critical priorities to align time and energy with organizational goals.
  • Assign priorities and reinforce individual responsibility for progress measures.
  • Monitor progress and results, summarizing specific actions and accountability.
  • Manage and optimize the flow of value through the ART and Solution Train using various tools.
  • Establish and communicate annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs).
  • Facilitate PI Planning readiness and drive Continuous Exploration processes.
  • Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets.
  • Continuously improve processes, products, and services by exploring innovative options.
  • Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks and inspire collaboration.
  • Ensure strategy and execution alignment between Product and Solution Management, Product Owners, and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and Kanban techniques.
  • Demonstrated expertise in product development process cycles.
  • Understanding of information systems and operations.
  • Thorough understanding of strategic planning principles.
  • Demonstrated understanding of portfolio management techniques.
  • Ability to perform multiple PI Planning sessions.
  • Excellent negotiation, leadership, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Nice-to-haves

  • SAFe Program Consultant (SPC certification) preferred.
