About the position

The Reliability Electrician III position at Shaw Industries is focused on executing assigned tasks and duties with a strong emphasis on safe work practices and high-quality, precision work. This role is integral to supporting the company’s commitment to delivering great products and services. The Reliability Electrician III will be responsible for maintaining manufacturing processes and support equipment at optimal performance levels, particularly electrical systems such as Motor Control Centers (MCCs), inverters, motors, and control systems including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and robotics. The position requires a proactive approach to maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment that may contribute to safety, quality, and productivity issues. In this role, the electrician will differentiate between various cause types when troubleshooting, whether they are product, process, mechanical, or electrical contributors. Effective communication of findings and potential corrective actions to operations and maintenance leadership is essential. The Reliability Electrician III will also execute proactive maintenance plans, including preventive maintenance (PM) and condition maintenance (CM), ensuring that equipment components are inspected, measured, and repaired as necessary. This includes developing detailed job plans and updating electrical schematics as required. Additionally, the Reliability Electrician III will mentor Reliability Electrician II's, helping them develop necessary skills while also enhancing their own expertise through collaboration with more experienced electricians. The position operates on a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, with specific hours falling within the defined punch day and calendar. Responsibilities

  • Execute assigned tasks with a focus on safe work practices and high-quality work.
  • Maintain manufacturing process and support equipment to optimal performance levels, including electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment contributing to safety, quality, and productivity issues.
  • Differentiate between cause types when troubleshooting among product, process, mechanical, and electrical contributors.
  • Communicate findings and potential corrective actions to operations and maintenance leadership.
  • Verify and provide feedback on needed updates to electrical schematics.
  • Execute proactive maintenance plans including preventive and condition maintenance.
  • Install and replace motors, drives, controls, starters, and other manufacturing equipment.
  • Mentor Reliability Electrician II's in skill development.

Requirements

  • Experience with electrical systems including MCCs, inverters, and motors.
  • Knowledge of control systems such as PLCs and robotics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and execute repairs on various equipment.
  • Strong communication skills to convey findings and corrective actions.
  • Experience in preventive and condition maintenance practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in mentoring or training junior electricians.
