About the position

The Reliability Engineer at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is responsible for establishing and implementing Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) operations processes for non-reactor nuclear facilities and conventional facilities. This role involves providing consultative advice on maintenance practices, optimizing equipment service life, and ensuring operational efficiency through advanced knowledge and technical expertise in asset maintenance and reliability. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for flexibility in work location.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) operations processes for LLNL's facilities.
  • Serve as the point of contact for maintenance of real property and installed equipment.
  • Provide consultative advice using leading-edge principles and best practices.
  • Develop and implement an asset RCM program to optimize functional service life of equipment and systems.
  • Conduct Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) to assess asset criticality ranking.
  • Utilize drones and infrared technologies for equipment inspections.
  • Review and assess infrastructure reliability issues and identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Perform infrastructure engineering design reviews for new construction and modifications.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance schedules based on equipment condition.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely maintenance of equipment and systems.

Requirements

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience in reliability centered maintenance planning and operations.
  • Advanced knowledge of interpreting multi-discipline construction drawings and performing design reviews.
  • Technical, analytical, and decision-making skills to coordinate multiple tasks effectively.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills for technical presentations and documentation.
  • Experience working independently and solving complex problems.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Valid FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate and experience operating drones.
  • Certification as a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in California or other states.
