About the position

The Reliability Engineering Coordinator is responsible for overseeing maintenance activities to ensure that equipment and facilities operate safely and efficiently. This role supports continuous improvement and production strategies within the snack food manufacturing environment, focusing on the reliability of equipment and building maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Direct activities related to adjustments and repairs of equipment and facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with governmental regulatory programs and policies.
  • Practice and comply with all plant and maintenance department safety procedures.
  • Assist with proper alternate entry of re-classified confined spaces when necessary.
  • Maintain and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Attend training to maintain skills in line with industry changes.
  • Function as a lead person in a team-based environment with minimal supervision.
  • Coordinate shift activities and resolve machinery issues with supervisors and management.
  • Direct team members in maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, and facilities.
  • Oversee and perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PDM).
  • Support diagnosing and resolving breakdowns in machinery and equipment.
  • Assist with analyzing and resolving work problems using methodologies like root cause analysis.
  • Train and develop new maintenance mechanics and trainees.
  • Document planned and unplanned work findings using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Prepare reports detailing causes of failures and actions taken to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturing and facilities processes.
  • Repair and install parts, tools, and equipment, and fabricate or modify machines as needed.
  • Interpret technical documents and diagrams for maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with executing maintenance and repair services of facility systems.
  • Facilitate maintenance team training and attend production meetings.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED with approved academic course in basic electrical, mechanical, and electronics.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing facility performing mechanical and electrical inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical journals and documents.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with all levels of employees.
  • Mechanical ability and attention to detail.
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Formal technical school education in mechanics, electrical, pneumatic, carpentry, plumbing, machining, and welding techniques.
  • Five years of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Mechanical and electrical certifications/licenses preferred.
