About the position

The Reliability Manager at Danone is responsible for overseeing the reliability team at a food manufacturing plant in Bridgeton, NJ. This role focuses on predictive and preventive maintenance, ensuring machine reliability, and leading the PM pillar within a Continuous Improvement (CI) and Lean manufacturing environment. The manager will guide maintenance staff, manage employee relations, and optimize maintenance costs while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manages site reliability team and serves as a positive role model for safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Provides guidance, instruction, and mentoring for maintenance staff.
  • Gives periodic feedback to employees regarding job knowledge, performance, and development.
  • Manages employee overtime and equipment reliability to minimize maintenance costs.
  • Resolves maintenance employee relations issues.
  • Directs maintenance prioritization, planning, and execution for the site.
  • Prepares facility maintenance and maintenance projects with contractors.
  • Oversees utilities and controls operations.
  • Manages maintenance schedulers in scheduling work and monitoring progress.
  • Analyzes problems and trends in plant maintenance to minimize production downtime.
  • Evaluates major sources of machine downtime and creates action plans for improvement.
  • Communicates with operating departments to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Coordinates corporate technology strategies with information systems shared services.
  • Optimizes plant energy usage.
  • Plans scheduled downtimes, shutdowns, and maintenance projects.
  • Manages execution of major construction and maintenance projects.
  • Leads safety efforts for the maintenance team and identifies safety issues.
  • Maintains compliance with local, state, and federal maintenance equipment rules.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
  • 8-10 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably in food/beverage industry.
  • Minimum of five years of people management experience.
  • Experience in mechanical and/or systems-related technical training or equivalent experience.
  • Functional understanding of predictive and preventive maintenance programs and work order systems.
  • Experience using a Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) preferred.
  • Analytical troubleshooting skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Continuous improvement/lean manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, timekeeping software, and PM management software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the food/beverage industry is highly preferred.
  • Previous experience in maintenance, engineering, project management, and/or production management.
