About the position

Jefferies is seeking a Reliability Platform Engineer to provide development and support for the Credit/Market Risk platform. The ideal candidate will be a creative and driven software engineer with a passion for technology, responsible for analyzing and resolving complex issues, performance tuning, system design, automation, risk management, incident response, monitoring, and collaboration with other teams.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and resolve intricate problems related to the Risk platform.
  • Collect and analyze metrics from applications, databases, and application infrastructure to tune performance.
  • Participate in system design consulting, capacity planning, and platform management.
  • Create sustainable systems and services through automation.
  • Identify and manage risks that could disrupt software development.
  • Manage emergency incident response and practice sustainable incident response.
  • Create dashboards and alerting systems to ensure services are operating correctly.
  • Create backup plans in case of an emergency, such as disaster recovery plans.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams and project engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years experience working with software design and programming languages such as Java, Python, Perl, Shell, and JavaScript.
  • 2+ years experience with implementing Observability tooling like open telemetry.
  • 4+ years hands-on experience with Oracle 19x including complex performance tuning.
  • 2+ years experience with software testing, performance, and quality engineering techniques and strategies.
  • 4+ years experience with TWS or Autosys and managing large batches.

Nice-to-haves

  • Self-starter that identifies/responds to priority with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with backend technologies such as JAVA/J2EE, SpringBoot, SOA, and Microservices.
  • Familiarity with source code control management systems (e.g. SVN/Git, Github) and build tools like Maven & Gradle.
  • Experience in Agile environments (e.g. Scrum, XP).
  • Knowledge of relational databases (e.g. Oracle 19x).
  • Experience with Atlassian tooling (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, and Github).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with automated testing tools such as JUnit, Selenium, LoadRunner, SoapUI.
