About the position

The Relief Driver - CDL (B) is responsible for safely operating a collection truck and providing prompt, courteous waste removal services for customers. This role involves ensuring vehicle compliance with safety standards, adhering to regulations, and completing daily vehicle condition reports. The driver interacts with customers and dispatchers, ensuring timely service and maintaining high safety and productivity standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complete pre-and post-operation inspection of the vehicle in accordance with company policy.
  • Safely operate the heavy truck along the designated route and to the disposal site.
  • Read route sheet, follow map, and service each customer as identified on the route sheet.
  • Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse and dispose of collected material.
  • Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure timely service.
  • Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them according to departmental procedures.
  • Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
  • Clean areas around accidental waste spills, adhering to safety standards.
  • Continuously monitor the vehicle's condition to ensure operational readiness.
  • Complete required route/productivity sheets, vehicle condition reports, and other reports as required.
  • Maintain adherence to required productivity standards for timely customer service.
  • Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in the Company's ReSOP program.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Class B or higher Commercial Driver's license with air brakes endorsement.
  • Two years of prior experience driving commercial trucks preferred.
  • Good customer service skills to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Good time management skills to ensure responsibilities are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Ability to adhere to company policies and promote safety standards.

  • Experience in waste management or environmental services.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards.
