About the position
The Relief Heavy Equipment Operator position at Waste Management involves operating a variety of heavy equipment vehicles that are essential for the spreading and compaction of construction demolition, soil remediation, and both commercial and residential waste. This role is critical in ensuring that waste is disposed of properly at post-collection facilities or specific job sites. The operator will also be tasked with moving and positioning raw materials and finished components using material moving equipment, following standard operating procedures for both operation and maintenance of the vehicles. The job may involve working as part of a team that moves from site to site, requiring strong teamwork and communication skills. The position does not include supervisory responsibilities, allowing the operator to focus on their essential duties without the added pressure of managing others. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience in operating heavy equipment and must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment in compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance; maintain accurate records.
- Move and position raw materials and finished components using material moving equipment.
- Follow standard operating procedures for operating and maintaining vehicles.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including moving from job site to job site as needed.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Successfully complete pre-employment drug screen and physical.
- Three (3) plus years of previous experience operating heavy equipment.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
