About the position

The Religious Services Assistant position within the Department of Justice is designed to support the Chaplains, volunteers, and religious programming for all faiths in a correctional institution. This role is crucial in maintaining a humane and secure environment while preparing individuals for successful reentry into society. The assistant will manage records, assist in the preparation of religious materials, and supervise day-to-day activities within the religious program area, ensuring compliance with security protocols.

Responsibilities

• Support the Chaplains, volunteers, and religious programming of all faiths in the institution.
• Maintain records, ecclesiastical documents, materials, and references for the institution's religious groups.
• Assist in the preparation of devotional and religious educational materials and audio-visual displays.
• Work with the chaplaincy or Life Connections team to manage logistical support for the religious program.
• Supervise day-to-day activities, programs, and security in the religious program area.
• Perform clerical duties including typing, filing, proofreading, and recording meeting minutes.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in federal service.
• Experience maintaining department records and ensuring program requirements are met.
• Experience in preparing educational materials, including audio, video, and literacy libraries.
• Experience with financial documentation, including purchase requests and tracking shipments.
