About the position

The Remote Fiber Designer is responsible for developing and designing detailed Outside Plant (OSP) system layouts, focusing on fiber optic cable placement and related infrastructure. This role involves collaborating with municipal authorities, performing field surveys, and utilizing GIS and CAD software to create detailed drawings and maps. The designer will also monitor project progress and ensure compliance with regulations while optimizing network performance and cost-efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Develop and design detailed OSP system layouts, including route analysis and fiber optic cable placement.
• Document telecom design specifications and manage construction administration for OSP and Fiber design.
• Perform field surveys and site visits to collect data and assess potential construction challenges.
• Create detailed drawings and maps using GIS and CAD software.
• Work closely with municipal authorities and utility services to obtain necessary permits and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Monitor project progress and provide updates and adjustments to designs as needed.
• Analyze and select appropriate materials and technologies to optimize network performance and cost-efficiency.
• Partner with senior designers for final drawings and calculations.
• Research design solutions and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Previous OSP of Fiber design experience.
• Fiber-to-the-home experience.
• Experience with ARC GIS preferred.
