About the position

The Remote Field Service Turbine Engineer role at Actalent involves engineering, startup, and tuning of combustion and steam turbine control systems. The position requires hands-on experience in tuning turbine-related control loops and coordinating activities for the installation, modification, testing, or repair of company products. The engineer will represent the company in negotiations and resolve complex technical and business issues while maintaining customer relations.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering, startup, and tuning of combustion/steam turbine control systems.
  • Hands-on tuning of turbine-related control loops, logic, control valves, and sensors.
  • Coordinate activities of other staff for installation, modification, testing, or repair of company products.
  • Negotiate agreements and resolve complex technical, logistics, and business issues.
  • Provide technical advice to customers and less experienced field engineers.
  • Visit multiple job sites to ensure proper installation and operation of specialized equipment.
  • Establish schedules and coordinate technical activities.
  • Direct or assist in providing direction to craftspeople.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering
  • At least 5 years of large turbine tuning experience (Gas and/or Steam turbine)
  • Experience with DCS controls - Harmony, Symphony, and 800xA platforms
  • Hands-on experience with TPS and VPS modules
  • Ability to lead turbine commissioning activities.
