About the position

The Financial Aid Assistant position at Unitek Learning involves providing essential information and assistance to potential and existing students regarding financial aid options. The role emphasizes compliance with federal regulations and school policies while ensuring excellent customer service. The assistant will work closely with the Director of Financial Aid to secure funding for students and support various administrative tasks related to financial aid processes.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with and assist potential and existing students to ensure funding is secured for the program of enrollment
  • Work closely with the Director of Financial Aid to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and college rules and regulations
  • Assist the Director of Financial Aid and the Financial Aid Administrator to meet campus objectives and goals
  • Prepare reports as necessary in collaboration with the Director of Financial Aid and the Financial Aid Administrator
  • Follow up with students to collect pending documents or schedule appointments for the Director of Financial Aid and the Financial Aid Administrator
  • Assist with creating funding plans, submitting cash plan requests, packaging Pre-Requisite Programs, verifying non-Title IV loan approvals/denials, and uploading documents
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Degree or GED is required
  • Associate degree or above in related fields of accounting, finance, business, administration, etc. is preferred
  • Understanding of current Title IV, federal and state regulations regarding Financial Aid
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate sensitive financial information to prospective and current customers

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior related work experience is a plus but not required
  • Availability for at least two evenings per week for evening student population and overtime as requested
