About the position

The Lead Consultant (React/Next.js Full Stack) at Apex Systems is a pivotal role that combines leadership and technical expertise to drive the development and delivery of digital solutions for clients. This position involves mentoring internal consultants, managing hybrid teams, and fostering strong relationships with clients and stakeholders. The Lead Consultant will also participate in sales pursuits and contribute to the technical community within Apex, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions while promoting professional growth among team members.

Responsibilities

• Build strong client, industry and technical community relationships and represent Apex Systems as leaders in Industry and Professional events and communities.
• Demonstrate expert-level technical knowledge, skills, and effective professional consulting skills.
• Lead team members and direct reports to produce high quality deliverables, meet project deadlines, and take responsibility for engagement and team success.
• Coach and manage direct reports, maintaining strong employee engagement and productivity.
• Demonstrate a passion for quality and process improvement.
• Participate in sales pursuits through providing technical guidance, estimates, scoping, and other pre-sales activities.
• Continually innovate, seek creative solutions, and find new ways of adding value.
• Participate in the technical community at Apex to help define and deliver Apex best practices.

Requirements

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in software development and engineering
• 2+ years of experience successfully leading software development teams and projects
• 1+ years of working with nearshore/offshore teams preferred
• 1+ years of consulting experience preferred
• Senior/Lead level experience in React development (ideally version 19)
• Experience in React Server Components
• Experience React Server Actions
• Experience using Canary in React
• Strong experience in Next.js (version 14+)
• Experience in using App Router
• Experience in writing UI and integrations with other services being called within Next.JS
• Ability to hold conversations and collaborate with stakeholders

Nice-to-haves

• Tailwind 3+
• DevOps experience
• Testing in Vitest, React-testing library, or Playwright
• Figma DevMode
• Broad understanding of software architecture principles, patterns, and design concepts
• Broad experience working in Agile software development
• Experience in mentorship of engineers of varying seniority levels
• Prior customer-facing and presentation experience a must.
