About the position

The Remote Linux Systems Administrator at Belcan is responsible for supporting and maintaining production systems, focusing on configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of existing systems and infrastructure. The role ensures smooth day-to-day operations, addresses issues, and performs routine tasks while also participating in the design and creation of new products to drive business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and drive them to completion.
  • Manage escalations from L2 operations and security teams.
  • Work within customer requirements and advise customers on best practices.
  • Perform system troubleshooting and issue remediation.
  • Perform support of administration software tools.
  • Monitor systems; respond to and ensure resolution of operational issues.
  • Participate in design and creation of new products to drive business growth.
  • Maintain highly available virtual server environments.
  • Assist with installations, upgrades, and patches to ensure proper system operation.
  • Provide support for a variety of core infrastructure systems running Linux.
  • Provide after-hours support during critical or user impacting outages.
  • Develop and implement approved change requests in accordance with Change Management processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3+ years' experience with core Linux services such as DNS/DHCP/NTP, Postfix, Samba, MySQL, Apache, Ansible.
  • Strong understanding and interest in Linux operating systems such as RedHat, CentOS, and Rocky Linux.
  • Strong understanding and interest in Virtualization platforms such as VMware and AWS EC2.
  • Experience in Configuration Management and Configuration Orchestration with Ansible.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and network configuration.
  • Understanding of security best practices, including user management, access control, and vulnerability management.
  • Scripting experience with at least one of the following: Bash, Perl, Python.
  • Use of system monitoring and reporting tools (Zabbix preferred).
  • Outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Team-oriented and skilled in working within a collaborative environment.
