About the position

Stauffer Glove & Safety, a family-owned and operated business for five generations, is seeking an experienced Outside Sales Account Manager to join our Midwest Regional Team. This position will service the Northern Indiana and Western Michigan Sales Territory. The ideal candidate will possess a strong business acumen, a high sense of urgency, and excellent organizational skills. The role requires the ability to successfully negotiate and maintain positive professional relationships with clients. With over 115 years of experience in the industry, Stauffer Glove & Safety offers employees the stability of working with a leader in the distribution of safety and personal protective equipment (PPE) products. As an Outside Sales Account Manager, you will be responsible for executing the sales strategy, which includes establishing and developing the regional market share in your assigned territory. You will meet established sales goals through new customer sales growth and the introduction of new products and services to existing customers. The role involves actively prospecting for new customers, understanding their needs, and creating a strong customer-supplier relationship. You will collaborate with the National Accounts Manager to service existing National Account locations and manage all customer interactions in your territory. In addition to sales responsibilities, you will prepare sales information for customers, coordinate renewal activities, negotiate pricing, and provide technical specifications on products. You will also be involved in providing onsite customer support for vending services, conducting product training, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to secure orders and manage inventory levels. This is a full-time, salaried exempt position with typical working hours from Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, although hours may vary based on customer needs and travel requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Execute sales strategy to establish and develop regional market share in the assigned territory.
  • Meet established sales goals through new customer sales growth and introduction of new products and services.
  • Actively prospect for new customers and establish buying cycles.
  • Collaborate with National Accounts Manager to service existing National Account locations.
  • Manage and provide service to all existing and newly established customers in assigned territory.
  • Prepare sales information for customers and support all customer needs.
  • Coordinate renewal activity for existing customers, including negotiating pricing and providing technical specifications.
  • Provide onsite customer support for vending services, including implementation and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with customer service and operations to secure and place orders.
  • Conduct product training and seminars for customers.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School degree or GED equivalent.
  • 0-5 years of sales experience in Safety distribution, Industrial distribution, or MRO industries.
  • Demonstrated record of success in growing and managing a substantial client base.
  • Excellent communication, time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience with CRM systems.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
  • Combined Associate's degree with 5 or more years' experience in safety distribution-related industry.
