About the position

The Remote Pharmacy Technician role at Actalent involves reviewing prior authorizations for a Pharmacy Services department, determining whether to approve or deny requests, and facilitating communication between members and healthcare providers. This position requires handling various health plans and medications, as well as documenting decisions in the PBM system.

Responsibilities

• Review prior authorizations for determination in a Pharmacy Services department.
• Approve or deny requests and send them to pharmacists for final review.
• Handle all health plans and types of medications.
• Manage inbound phone calls from members.
• Track coverage determination requests submitted from providers and assess if a pharmacist review is necessary.
• Obtain verbal authorizations and request detailed clinical information from prescribers.
• Approve coverage determination requests based on defined criteria.
• Enter and document coverage determination request decisions into the PBM system and notify providers and/or members.
• Respond to client inquiries regarding authorization approvals and PBM online applications.
• Refer coverage determination requests for specialty drugs to delegated vendors or clients for processing.
• Contact providers for additional information to facilitate coverage determination reviews.
• Notify physicians, providers, and members of coverage determination request decisions.

Requirements

• Must have a minimum of High School Diploma or GED.
• Must hold an active Pharmacy Technician license as required by state of operation.
• Experience in retail pharmacy, hospital, or specialty pharmacy environments.
• Must be able to type 40 WPM.
