About the position

The REMOTE Residential Drafter position is designed for individuals who can work from a home office while contributing to the production of architectural, structural, and building enclosure working drawings. This role is crucial in supporting the increased demand for forensic structural engineering services provided by our client, which operates nationwide. The drafter will be responsible for executing revisions to drawings, developing details from sketches provided by Project Managers, and ensuring that all project deliverables meet the established company and client standards. Attention to quality, budget, and schedule constraints is paramount in this role, as is the ability to maintain organized documentation and files throughout the project lifecycle. In this position, the drafter will collaborate closely with Project Managers, providing ongoing support and assistance as needed. The role requires a strong understanding of project specifications and scope, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. The drafter will also be expected to create documents that adhere to identified standards, ensuring continuity in the work product. This position offers a unique opportunity to work remotely while being part of a dynamic team that addresses various structural engineering challenges, including those arising from natural disasters and other loss events.

Responsibilities

  • Performs assigned production of architectural, structural, and building enclosure working drawings.
  • Understand and execute 'redlines' revisions to drawings.
  • Develop details from sketches generated by Project Managers.
  • Demonstrate awareness of coordination with specifications/project scope.
  • Provides ongoing support and assistance to Project Managers.
  • Ensure project deliverables adhere to company and client standards with attention to quality, budget, and schedule constraints.
  • Follows established organization of documents, drawings, layouts, and files.
  • Create documents using identified standards, ensuring continuity in work product.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2+ years of progressive drawing production experience, or the equivalent in education and experience.
  • Revit and/or AutoCAD Proficiency.
  • Advanced verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage individual goals and time.
  • Ability to maintain project schedules and manage deadlines on multiple projects.
  • Critical thinking - takes initiative - self-motivated.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2-year Technical Degree, or equivalent
  • Previous experience working for a forensic engineering firm
  • Understanding of general building components and construction.
  • Previous experience on a construction site as an observer for the periodic duration of projects.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and industry standard for designing enclosure components.
