About the position

The Remote Senior Data Engineer at Nutrisense is responsible for building and maintaining the data infrastructure that supports the company's health tech platform. This role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure optimal data extraction, transformation, and loading processes, while also promoting best practices in data engineering. The position is ideal for someone with a strong background in relational databases and data operations, who is passionate about health and wellness.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating closely with data scientists, data analysts, and software engineers to build and maintain the infrastructure for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
• Designing, developing, and owning data pipelines that power analytics for business, research, and product teams.
• Developing data models to deliver business intelligence to stakeholders across the company under a self-service analytics model.
• Implementing and promoting data engineering best practices, including testing, incremental modeling, documentation, and data snapshots.
• Working in a cross-functional, distributed team environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or an equivalent field.
• 3+ years experience in a data-focused engineering role.
• Advanced working knowledge of relational databases and cloud-based analytical data warehouses.
• Demonstrated expertise in SQL query design and optimization.
• Experience developing and maintaining custom data integrations.
• Experience with DBT, including testing, documentation, macros, and operations.
• Experience with cloud services and products.
• Expert knowledge of one or more programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Ruby.
• Obsessive attention to detail to catch bugs, resolve edge cases, and perform root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
