About the position

The Senior Systems Programmer at American National is responsible for managing infrastructure software and systems on mainframe and mid-range computing platforms. This role involves providing technical oversight, ensuring compatibility of operating systems and software, and offering leadership and consulting services to support application programming and computer operations personnel. The position also includes monitoring system performance and availability, as well as coordinating training and mentoring for team members.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical oversight for all computing systems and software configurations
• Assist in the creation of technical controls, practices, and processes to ensure compatibility and support of operating systems and third-party software
• Provide senior technical leadership and consulting services for application programming and computer operations personnel
• Ensure adequate technical controls for monitoring system performance and availability, recommending changes as necessary
• Coordinate and plan training and mentoring for team members in line with changing technologies and new infrastructure software

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience
• Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in Information Technology, with five (5) years in Systems Programming
• Specialization in z/OS MVS/VM operating system software and/or subsystems or business applications such as CICS, DB2, IMS, RACF, SMP/E, JES2, z/OS Communications Server, ASG ZEKE, BMC MAINVIEW, DFSMS (OAM, DFP)
• Ability to participate in an on-call 24-hour weekly rotation
