About the position

The Remote Senior Tax Manager position at our established CPA firm is a pivotal role that requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in public accounting. This position is designed for individuals who are not only adept at managing tax engagements but also possess the ability to lead and mentor a team of accountants. The Senior Tax Manager will be responsible for reviewing and signing off on tax returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and providing strategic tax planning advice to clients. This role is hybrid, allowing for flexibility in work location, with an expectation of being in the Newark, NJ office 2 to 3 days a week. In this role, you will oversee the planning, supervising, and completion of various tax engagements. You will be tasked with planning the timing of engagements and assigning staff accordingly, ensuring that all team members are effectively utilized. As a Senior Manager, you will review engagement documentation, resolve any technical issues that arise, and keep the partner informed of all significant developments throughout the engagement process. Additionally, you will prepare client billings as requested by partners and evaluate the performance of staff and senior accountants, providing constructive feedback to foster their professional growth. A key aspect of this position is the development of new client contacts and relationships that are beneficial to the firm. You will be expected to market the firm through various channels, including volunteering and public speaking engagements. Recognizing opportunities to provide additional services to existing clients is crucial for expanding the firm's offerings and enhancing client satisfaction. Senior Managers are often heads of departments as assigned by the partners, and you will be responsible for ensuring that your department adheres to the firm's policies and procedures. Understanding the economics of each engagement, including budget management and profitability, is essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Review and sign off on tax returns.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of recent experience working in public accounting.
  • Active CPA license.
