About the position

The Senior Wastewater Process Engineer position at Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions (VWTS) is a remote role that requires candidates to have substantial experience in water and/or wastewater treatment. This role is integral to a team of Process Engineers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) who are responsible for screening potential projects and opportunities related to new construction, fleet-based solutions, and the utilization of existing customer assets. The engineer will prepare detailed process design calculations, develop and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and provide technical guidance and support to Sales and Commercial Engineering teams. Additionally, the engineer will conduct site audits of existing plants to assess performance and troubleshoot issues, while also providing operational safety input to field services, engineering, and design teams. The Technical Direction and Process Validation team at VWTS works with a variety of technologies, including clarification, filtration, dissolved air flotation, ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, ion exchange, electro-deionization, membrane bioreactors, degasification, adsorption, and dewatering technology. The applications for these technologies span across industrial wastewater treatment for discharge and reuse, cooling tower makeup and blowdown, as well as specific sectors such as Food and Beverage, Semiconductor, and general Wastewater treatment applications. The role emphasizes collaboration with Sales and Commercial Engineering teams to support opportunities, ensuring that proposed solutions meet treatment system goals and product specifications throughout the contract duration.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Sales and Commercial Engineering (CE) Teams to support opportunities including screening new opportunities during WIN reviews for regional and global projects
  • Provide technical and process support to meet Sales and Commercial Engineering team's respective needs
  • Be responsible for the creation, development, and/or assessment of process design calculations and process flow diagrams (PFDs) for new and unique applications within the Services business
  • Participate in P-table (Process) reviews prior to proposal submission to ensure the proposed solution is capable of meeting and achieving the treatment system's goals and product specifications
  • Participate in Peer Reviews of other SME team member's projects to support P-table reviews, as required
  • Coach and mentor other team members, sharing your knowledge and background in your specific subject matter area of expertise
  • Support lifecycle cost analysis while comparing and contrasting different flowsheets to arrive at the best technical approach
  • Work with Sales and CE teams to process design strategies in order to position the company well in the early stages of project development
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Regional Sales Managers and Local Representatives and other Commercial Engineering teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in water & wastewater process engineering or equipment supply field
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in detailed process design and the ability to read and understand proposal documents and specifications from both technical and commercial perspectives
