About the position

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in a school setting is responsible for evaluating students' communication skills, providing therapy services, and developing treatment plans in accordance with individual needs and physician's orders. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with established guidelines and to support students' communication needs effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assess students' communication skills to identify disorders and determine program eligibility.
  • Collaborate with various groups to communicate information and resolve issues.
  • Coordinate meetings and processes for eligible students, including testing and IEPs.
  • Develop treatment plans and educational materials to address communication disorders.
  • Instruct students in the use of communication technologies such as hearing aids and augmentative devices.
  • Maintain accurate records including progress reports and treatment plans.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars for professional development.
  • Provide speech and language therapy to minimize the impact of disorders on student success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Active Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Licensure in the state of assignment required.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred.
  • Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participation in Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification if applicable.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current Health certificate as per contract or state regulation.
  • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language required.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
