About the position

The Senior Client Controller at AccountingDepartment.com is a leadership role responsible for managing a team of accounting professionals while providing outsourced controllership and advisory services to clients, particularly in the government contracting sector. This position emphasizes the development and maintenance of accounting principles and practices to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, as well as the delivery of timely and accurate financial reports. The Senior Controller will also play a key role in strategic decision-making, budgeting, and performance analysis, all within a virtual work environment that values collaboration and individual growth.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the activities of Accounting Supervisors and Accounting Specialists while providing exceptional controllership and advisory services.
  • Develop and maintain accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure compliance with DCAA, FAR, CAS, and GAAP.
  • Review monthly financial reports for accuracy and implement internal processes to eliminate risk.
  • Assist clients in achieving their business visions through analysis of historical data and future projections.
  • Oversee budgets, forecasts, analytics, and the development of KPIs, providing insights and recommendations to clients.
  • Conduct regular client conference calls to discuss strategy and operational changes affecting financial results.
  • Manage month-end closing processes and issue financial reports to clients.
  • Ensure all financial information is accurately entered into QuickBooks and ICAT.
  • Coordinate information for external audits and tax return preparation.
  • Support, train, and mentor virtual accounting specialists, conducting performance reviews and team meetings.

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in public accounting and 5+ years in private industry.
  • Extensive knowledge in accounting for businesses in the under $20M market.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor staff.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a virtual environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing circumstances.
