About the position
The Remote Tax Professional at H&R Block plays a crucial role in assisting clients with their diverse tax needs while working remotely. This seasonal position emphasizes building strong client relationships and providing expert tax support, ensuring clients make informed decisions regarding their finances. The role includes conducting virtual tax interviews and requires a commitment to continuous learning and teamwork to achieve business growth and client retention.
Responsibilities
- Conduct tax interviews with clients and support do-it-yourself online tax clients through virtual tools (i.e., video conferencing, phone, chat, email)
- Generate business growth, increase client retention, and offer additional products and services
- Communicate and coordinate regularly with leaders and peers about remote work impact on results
- Grow tax expertise and stay updated with tax regulations
Requirements
- Experience completing individual tax returns
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or tax
- Experience conducting virtual tax interviews
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- High school diploma or equivalent or higher
- Must complete continuing education requirement and meet all IRS and applicable state requirements
- Access to high-speed, reliable internet
- Experience and skilled in technology (specifically MS Teams and Outlook)
- Availability to work a minimum of 20 hours a week during peak tax season
Nice-to-haves
- CPA or Enrolled Agent certification
- Experience completing complex tax returns
- Tax planning and audit support experience
- Sales and/or marketing experience
