About the position
As a Remote Tax Professional at H&R Block, you will play a crucial role in helping clients navigate their tax needs with confidence and clarity. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct tax interviews with clients, utilizing virtual tools such as video conferencing, phone, chat, and email to provide support to both individual clients and those using our do-it-yourself online tax services. This position is seasonal and requires a commitment to work a minimum of 20 hours a week during the peak tax season, ensuring that you are available to assist clients during their most critical financial moments. In this role, you will not only be responsible for preparing individual tax returns but also for generating business growth and increasing client retention by offering additional products and services. You will be expected to communicate effectively with your peers and leaders, sharing insights on how your remote work impacts overall results. Continuous growth in your tax expertise is essential, and you will have access to advanced tax training to support your development. Your day-to-day activities will involve inspiring clients to make informed decisions about their finances, building strong relationships that foster trust and confidence. Responsibilities
- Conduct tax interviews with clients using virtual tools such as video conferencing, phone, chat, and email.
- Support do-it-yourself online tax clients through virtual assistance.
- Generate business growth and increase client retention by offering additional products and services.
- Communicate and coordinate regularly with leaders and peers about the impact of remote work on results.
- Grow tax expertise through continuous learning and training.
Requirements
- Experience completing individual tax returns.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
- Access to high-speed, reliable internet.
- Proficiency in technology, specifically MS Teams and Outlook.
- Ability to communicate complex tax situations concisely via phone, email, and chat.
- Experience utilizing effective customer service techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment or equivalent.
- High school diploma or equivalent or higher.
- Must complete continuing education requirements and meet all IRS and applicable state requirements.
- Availability to work a minimum of 20 hours a week during peak tax season.
- Skill in researching information using various tax and publication tools.
Nice-to-haves
- CPA or Enrolled Agent certification.
- Experience completing complex tax returns.
- 5+ years of experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or tax.
- Experience conducting virtual tax interviews that instill confidence in clients.
- Tax planning and audit support experience.
- Sales and/or marketing experience.
