About the position

Amergis is seeking advanced math and science tutors to provide on-demand tutoring services. The role involves assisting students in achieving their educational goals through personalized support and direct tutoring, enhancing their study skills, and facilitating understanding of complex concepts in various settings, including virtual and in-person sessions.

Responsibilities

• Provides lessons or teaching in a variety of settings: in person, virtually, groups or individuals
• Creates lesson plans tailored to students' ability levels, learning styles, grade level, curriculum and experiences
• Provides training and/or assistance to ensure growth toward individual educational goals
• Listens to and responds to the needs of students, parents/guardians, and school district
• Assists students in developing and maintaining a structured study plan
• Helps improve and maintain self-confidence in the academic environment
• Facilitates the development of adaptive and effective coping skills with academic-related anxiety
• Connects students with community resources that assist with educational goals
• Advocates for students in all situations
• Utilizes state-specific core curriculum content standards in every tutoring session and documents appropriately
• Completes all mandated supervision and training as required
• Works as a member of a team and autonomously, setting goals and using strategies to meet them

Requirements

• Proficiency in Advanced Math and Science subjects including Algebra, Functions, Equations, Trigonometry, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
• Teacher Credential Certification/Licensure as required by state or contract
• Degree in Education or relevant field as required by state or contract
• Experience in tutoring, preferred
• 2 years teaching experience, preferred
• Experience or credential in Special Education, preferred
• Current CPR certification if applicable
• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
• Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
• Strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language
• Computer proficiency
• Must be at least 18 years of age
